Colombians are recognized for being good salsa dancers. In Cartagena de Indias, any day is ideal for listening to salsa music, but here salsa is related to Sunday. On this day in neighborhoods we can hear the rumble of the sound systems ”a todo timbal" ( Turning your stereo up as loud you can) and watching people drink a "fría bien helada"( a cold beer).
Salsa music is without a doubt part of the Caribbean culture and mainly in Cartagena, lovers of this genre are innumerable. In this experience we will learn the history of salsa music, the influence of Puerto Rico in our musical orientation. We will learn the basic steps to enjoy a night dancing salsa like a real Cartagenero with our local dancer. We will visit visit 3 differents local bars where we will meet people who will immerse us in the true Cartagena musical culture and also learn from the stories at each of these sites, which have become icons for salsa-loving Cartagena people.
As locals, we will teach you how to move your hips and legs. We can't promise you will be a professional dancer at the end of the night, but you will have a fun experience.!. We also will be able to experience live salsa music and " champeta music" ( A local rhythm that comes from Africa) as well.
Now, don’t be shy and be ready to dance with locals. !
